Here are some tidbits (that no one asked for) about Fantasma, or Renata de Oliveira.

Fantasma Portrait by Janus3003

  1. Renata de Oliveira is pronounced “hey-NAH-tah jee oh-lee-VAIR-rah.” When someone has to find her name on a list, she often pronounces her first name with a heavily exaggerated English R. Captain Miracle currently has her phone number labeled “Henata.”
  2. She was born and raised (and experimented on) in São Paulo. She’s lived in Paradigm City for almost ten years. She’s in her mid to late 20s (I don’t have a set age for her or anyone else).
  3. She wears socks inside her boots, and they generally clash with the rest of her getup. She’s particularly fond of the pink socks with cartoon cat faces on them.
  4. The ribbing on her leotard is actually a pale cyan, not straight white. Cosplayers take note! ...there are interested cosplayers, right?
  5. She tried nicknaming Theo "Tedinho." "-inho" is a diminutive suffix, and "Ted" is short for "Theodore." Basically, she was calling him "Teddy" in Portuguese. It didn't stick.
  6. She has a half-brother named Julio, who was also experimented on by their father. They haven’t spoken in years, parting ways to deal with their trauma and grief in their own ways. She knows he has powers, but doesn’t know he’s now a supervillain named Geist.
  7. She speaks English and Portuguese fluently, and knows enough German that she could get by (and talk about lab results).
  8. Her mother is Brazilian, and her father German.
  9. She likes peas and corn on a lot of things, including hamburgers, hot dogs, and pizza. She hasn’t been able to convince anyone else into trying it.
  10. She makes some pretty darn tasty black beans.
  11. She can’t whistle.
