In my headcanon, Elisif has a sexual escapade with my Dragonborn, Isanur Balcotha. It may sound cliched to you, but Elisif is kinda hot, and I imagine that she and the Dragonborn would become awfully close after a while, as he would be one of the few people who treats her as an equal.
BTW, I almost used the word "affair", but her husband is dead. So, does that mean it isn't one?
